VCP6-DCV : VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization
VCP6-DCV Validate your ability to configure, administer and scale a vSphere virtualized data center. You can deploy, consolidate, and administer virtualization technologies including vSphere HA and DRS Clusters, storage virtualization using VMFS, Storage DRS and Storage I/O Control, network virtualization using vSphere standard and distributed switches and Network I/O Control, vSphere management using vCenter Server and vRealize Operations Manager Standard, and Virtual Machines.
As with the V5 credentials, VMware continues to offer candidates an entry-level cert in the form of the VMware Certified Associate 6 – Data Center Virtualization (VCA6-DCV) followed by the next tier on the certification ladder, the VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP6-DCV). The VCP6-DCV is a professional-level certification that prepares credential holders for more advanced certifications including the VMware Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX6-DCV) and the pinnacle cert, VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX-DCV).
Training is required for non-credential holders seeking to obtain the VCP6-DCV. VMware offers a variety of training options to meet the training prerequisite — self-paced (on demand), live online and live classroom, some of which include virtual labs. Candidates who have prior vSphere 5.x training but aren’t VCP certified must complete the “what’s new” (V5.5 to V6) training course and pass the associated exams. Those possessing a valid VCP5-DCV credential need only pass a delta exam to obtain the credential.

Non-VCP credential holders and expired VCP certification holders (any solution track) must complete one of the following training courses:

Non-VCP credential holders: recommended a minimum of six months of vSphere 6 experience
vSphere 5x training but not VCP certified: vSphere What’s New [V5.5 to V6] training
Valid DCP5-DCV certification or any valid VCP credential: No prerequisites

Number of Exams
Except as noted below, two exams are required for all candidates:
• vSphere 6 Foundations Exam: 2V0-620, 90 minutes, 65 questions
• VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization: 2V0-621, 100 minutes, 85 questions
For those with a valid DCP5-DCV certification, one exam:
• VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization Delta exam: 2V0-621D, 100 minutes, 85 questions
Valid DCP certification, any solution track:
• VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization
